Francesc Català Roca, 1922-1998

Born in Valls, Francesc Catalá moved to Barcelona where he worked for various magazines and publications such as Revista, Destino, Gaceta Ilustrada or La Vanguardia. In 1953 he had his first solo exhibition, after which he illustrated a considerable number of books, especially artistic publications.

His work received numerous recognitions such as the City of Barcelona Award (1951 and 1952), the National Fine Art Awards of the Ministry of Culture (1983) and the Generalitat de Catalunya (1991), the Cross of Saint George (1992) and the Gold Medal for Artistic Merit (1993).
